The ComEd Youth Ambassadors is an initiative program to promote a new generation of youth to understand the importance of energy management and to promote higher concepts of ComEd’s Smart Grid initiatives, following the Energy Modernization and Innovation Act. Through a collaboration with ComEd and After school Matters, teens from various high schools in Chicago and suburbs have the opportunity to learn and be advocates of the Smart Grid and the Smart Meter. This summer 2014, Columbia College Chicago opened its doors to offer two programs to 45 students.

The ComEd Youth Ambassador program was proudly hosted at various community centers throughout the city of of Chicago during the summer of 2013. Columbia College Chicago was proud to offer the program at their site. With 23 students in attendance and two instructors, the ComEd Youth Ambassadors program at Columbia College helped introduce science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts as well as career related subjects in energy generation and distribution.
